After driving through thick traffic from the valley into Hollywood, where streets were blocked off for what we assumed was likely a big summer premiere, we got onto Sunset, starving, and found Cheebo, a very bright bistro. What an awesome surprise it turned out to be, as it seemed like it was just a pizza joint but actually had a fairly extensive Italian-fusion menu that focused on organic and sustainable ingredients.

I had the duck confit salad with goat cheese crostini, and I expected a little spoonful of pulled confit on top, not a whole duck leg. Incredible. I paired with a California Cab and it was perfect, particularly with the crostini topped with fresh basil and creamy cheese.

Like I said, it’s bright and really fun, reasonably priced, and run by a bunch of really sweet Mexicans. I wanted to eat everything on the menu.
